Indeed, just as many a Count or Countess has been elven, so are Legates or Generals in the Legion. The Imperial Legion has prided itself in its Orcish shock troops for generations, and so do mage formations accept many elves into their ranks. Men and mer of all forms can be found through the cities of the Empire, and so it is too in their armies.
One of the great traditions of the Empire, that the Medes have but encouraged to their favour, is cosmopolitanism. Whether this war will make it rise from the ashes or finally shatter it under an elven jackboot remains to be seen, but the West Weald will be critical to its defense. The Mede Dynasty, which could once lay claim to the inheritance of the Septims, have seen slow fragmentation and loss, reduced to a handful of human provinces. The Empire of Tamriel has seen better times. As armies march from edge to edge of the continent, the borders are set, the players are prepared. Now, thirty years after its end and scarcely one year after his untimely death, Emperor Attrebus Mede II has repudiated the White-Gold Concordat, and the Aldmeri Dominion has declared war. The blood of thousands more would be on his hands four years later, as the Great War ended in a humiliating peace. A hundred heads were laid at the Emperor’s feet.
